About the event

This is a beautiful way to connect to the nature around us and particularly to enjoy a local walk in a different way.  This foraging walk is led by artist and forager Jemima Hall, the walk lasts around 2 hours at a slow pace, throughout the walk Jemima will introduce the group to 8-10 different wild foods along the way.  Providing knowledge about the plant life that grows naturally around us and the best times of year to forage them and how to use them.  There will also be a wild tea tasting at the end.

Meeting Point

Jemima will meet everyone at Broadford Pier at 12:50pm, to start the walk at 1pm.

Why is foraging foods a great activity to do?

studies have shown that wild foods contain more nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and have more healing properties than foods coming from commercially produced foods.  Foraged foods have never been chemically treated and are often allowed to fully ripen before being harvested (as long as you learn how to pick food correctly!), wild foods keep their natural power and stay nutrient-dense because we often eat them quickly after picking them. In addition to all of those added benefits of wild foods, spending time in nature allows you to spend timemore time outdoors, which has been proven to reduce stress and boost your immune system!

It's also good for the planet!

As you pick your wild foods, keep in mind that no trucks, planes, or trains were needed to deliver the food, it's all on your doorstep and free.   Wild, foraged food is as local as it can gets.  By foraging some foods you can feel good that there haven't been any emissions caused by putting that food on your plate.  Every little bit helps and it's way more fun to forage then head to the supermarket!
