Free Christmas Tree Chipping

In an effort to stop as many christmas trees as we possibly can going to landfill after the festivities are over, we've teamed up with Broadford & Strath Community Company and Skye Tree Surgeons so we can all turn our trees into wood chips!

Date & Time

06 Jan 2022, 09:30 – 12:00

Broadford & Strath Community Hub, Broadford Industrial Estate, Pairc Nan Craobh Industrial Estate, Broadford, Isle of Skye IV49 9AP, UK

About the event

Every year around 160,000 tonnes of Christmas trees end up in landfill, this leads to a lot of unnecessary carbon emissions, as the trees take many years to breakdown in landfill.

This year we thought we could do our bit to at least prevent the Christmas trees in our local area going to landfill.  We've teamed up with Broadford & Strath Community Company and Skye Tree Surgeons to provide a local tree chipping station.  We have even managed to get some volunteers to help collect your tree if you live in the Broadford area and are unable to transport the tree to the community hub yourself.  We'll be collecting trees on the morning of January 6th from 9am - 11am.  Just fill out the registration form or message us on FB/Instagram to arrange for us to pick up your tree!

If you live anywhere in Skye & Lochalsh and you are able to drop your tree at the community hub in Broadford then you will be able to do so between 10am - 12pm on the 6th January.

The best bit is that the wood chips are also going to good use and are helping to make paths for the local forest school, Corry Capers.
