SkyeConnect and the Highland Community Waste Partnership (HCWP) have partnered to bring you "Sustainable Skye" - a fantastic FREE event to help you find "Smart Business Waste Solutions For your Business".

From 9am - 9:45am SkyeConnect will be runnning their AGM.

From 10am the morning will be filled with excting speakers and discussion tables.  We have a brilliant Keynote Speaker, Laura Young (Less Waste Laura).  Followed by  Panel discussions with businesses from around Skye hosted by Suzy Lee from Radio Skye!

In the Dangerous Ideas discussion tables it gives everyone a chance to chat and air their ideas for change.  This day is about us all working together to find solutions to save on waste and to save businesses money, as new legislation will be introduces and the Scottish Government move towards net zero goals.

There will be a break for lunch which will be delicious healthy and sustainable, created by John Coghill from the amazing SELF HEALTH.

In the afternoon there will be two fantastic cooking demonstrations;

Verity Hurding - Eòlach.  Verity is a creative chef that is passionate about Scottish produce, and instictively uses techniques that help save on food waste by using the whole animal or innovatively using vegetable scraps.  You may have seen her recently on MasterChef The Professionals!

Hannah Taylor - Gut Feelings.  Hannah is passionate about using locally sourced ingredients to flavour her Kombucha batches, and champions the benefits of eating fermented foods.  Hannah will be highlighting the benefits of eating ferments like sauerkraut, while also showing how these preserving techniques can provide local veg throughout the winter andhow that benefits on food waste and the planet.

HCWP is a three-year programme funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, and coordinated by Keep Scotland Beautiful, which runs in collaboration with eight partner community groups across the Highlands. The project seeks to build collaboration across the eight partner community groups and beyond, aiming to reduce consumption and waste across the Highlands, and establishing a movement focused on more sustainable consumption, consistent with a Net Zero future.
