About the event
Heading on to the water and gliding over it's surface can be one of the most wonderful things you can do, and it can also be a scary thing to do. However, just because we might find a new activity a little scary it doesn't mean we shouldn't give it a go. Research shows that particularly in sports women are a minority and finding experiences that are women only are few and far between. Often women feel and behave differently in an all-female environment and that the opportunity to take part in such events can, for some, have a real positive impact on their participation and how they feel about themselves.
We wanted to collaborate with South Skye Sea Kayak to create a half day beginner experience for women to empower each other to try a new experience in a fun, open and non-judgemental way. If you have some experience kayaking this can be a really enjoyable explorative kayaking day, and a time to practice skills and gain more experience. Women supporting women to spend time on the water in a fun and relaxed way.
This half day is about having fun together, experiencing the beauty that Skye has to offer from the sea, empowering each other to face challenges especially if you've never tried kayaking before, and connecting to nature and back to ourselves by having a little "water therapy" time.
In the usual Selkie style, we will bring along some hot drinks and a delicious snack to enjoy for our beach break.
