IWD - Walk, Talk, Care & Cake!

International Women's Day 2024 

International Women's Day (IWD) is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Each year, this day serves as a powerful reminder of the progress made towards gender equality and highlights the work that still needs to be done.

In 2024, the campaign theme Inspire Inclusion emphasizes the importance of diversity and empowerment in all aspects of society.

This year's campaign theme underscores the crucial role of inclusion in achieving gender equality. It calls for action to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create environments where all women are valued and respected. Inspire Inclusion encourages everyone to recognize the unique perspectives and contributions of women from all walks of life, including those from marginalized communities.

We have decided to keep it simple this IWD and invite families to come along for a walk to Irishman's Point, followed by some hot drinks, biscuits and cake at the Broadford Hall afterwards.  

It wouldn't be The Selkie Collective if we didn't do some beach cleaning along the way!  We will bring along some gloves and litter pickers to help everyone get involved.

This is time to spend connecting with others, working together to protect our local environment and time well spent in nature. After a short walk we can all head to the Broadford Hall to enjoy a lovely hot drink and some cakes that have been kindly gifted from the Co-op in support of IWD.  We have some crafting and colouring in for the children to enjoy.  

Women supporting women at whatever stage of life, in whatever walk of life is what this is all about and sometimes it can be as simple as walking and talking, and having a cup of tea together.  When we do that in nature we are not only taking time to care for ourselves, but also for our environment and those around us.
